rayn explores the tension between functionality and meaning by creating an ‘in-between space’ where multiple perspectives coexist and apparent opposites don’t cancel each other out but instead give rise to something new. through materials drawn from the public realm, they poetically convey complex feelings of presence and absence, control and vulnerability.
road symbols, for example, go beyond their practical role to embody a search for balance between being allowed and not allowed to exist, between structure and openness. This sense of boundary and fluidity continues in a transparent cube encasing pallets, a piece that simultaneously reveals and conceals. it reflects the struggle to occupy space and gestures towards ongoing processes of construction and deconstruction.

fascinated by what is still becoming, such as foundations and frameworks meant to carry rather than to be looked at, rayn draws attention to these quiet supports shaping our surroundings. each work makes the fluidity of meaning visible, which is always shaped and reshaped by context and environment. just as humans continuously adapt and change, their work reveals how significance is never static but constantly evolving
