bamboo poles, rubber bands, rope, gaffa tape
kunst platform L/NK, zwolle, november 2025
built specifically for the IN TRANSIT location, this installation unfolds through a bamboo framework resting on a grid of black tape lines, followed by empty space eventually meeting bamboo quietly leaning against the wall.
it outlines a space the body cannot walk through, placing the structure in direct contrast with the open area beside it and allowing the feeling of obstruction to be present.
using temporary materials and tying technique, this work is very much part of a constructed space,
echoing bamboo scaffolding that questions its functionality and purpose.
the tape lines almost operate as shadows, holding the structure in place. while the space seems rigid and artificial at first, the longer one dwells, the more the contrast of the natural materials and their organic use seem to stand out.
it is a zone emphasizing ambiguity, an in-between state of conforming and resisting, where the bamboo against the wall remains perpetually on the verge of collapse.
